In both private and public sectors we provide services which include: Organizational Assessment; Seminars and Workshops; Organizational Development; Consultation; Technical Assistance and Psychotherapy.

Unlike many traditional approaches, VISIONS uses a multicultural focus to provide new questions and fresh insights. Our approach blends the cognitive and affective aspects of different cultures to create new solutions. Moreover, we account for the dynamics of oppression and internalized oppression in organizational development and change.

Organizational Assessment

We review the strengths, resources and assets already working to create cultural diversity in the organization. We help identify areas of concern, and we examine the existing or potential impact of any major organizational initiatives.

We use surveys, focus groups and individual interviews. Staff perceptions, written policies and procedures, manuals, and EEO and affirmative action data may all be reviewed.

Once the assessment is completed, we prepare a report. This report contains recommendations and strategies for maintaining, enhancing or creating an effective multicultural workplace or setting.
Training Seminars

Workshops and training seminars provide a forum for participants to discuss how racial and cultural differences impact behaviors in the workplace. Barriers to cross-cultural communication such as racism, sexism, ageism and other “isms” are discussed. Participants are encouraged to use their own experience to better understand the “connection” between “isms” and internalized oppression.

VISIONS’ training sessions also demonstrate creative ways for people to address the tension related to issues of diversity, such as Affirmative Action; EEO policies; reduction in the workforce; promotion and seniority policies.

Our goal in the training is to help participants learn to cognitively and affectively increase their ability to recognize, understand and appreciate diversity in their workplace or community setting.

Consultation

Consultations are a proven way to help organizations improve the quality of work life, enhance the organizational climate and increase morale. We offer organizational development consultation from a multicultural perspective. This is especially critical during periods of staff reductions, mergers, implementation of new work systems, and rapid expansion.

VISIONS offers ongoing services for executives, senior managers, or organizational leaders to get coaching and feedback. This can be helpful in developing a plan detailing how organizations can innovatively draw on differences among staff.


Technical Assistance

From a perspective that includes a sensitivity to multicultural issues, we evaluate and make recommendations on written documents such as Affirmative Action plans, training material, strategic plans, mission statements and employee performance appraisal procedures.

This service helps ensure that the organization’s policies and procedures reflect and account for the diversity among its employees and consumers.


Psychotherapy

Individual and group clinical services are offered on an ongoing weekly, biweekly, monthly and quarterly basis. Psychological and mediation services with individuals, couples, families and intact teams are used to develop and improve interpersonal relationships through an ongoing consultation process.
